Train past the
drill. Solve the
problem.
Redfoot MMA is a combat-sports academy built on game, not repetition. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, striking, youth grappling, conditioning, and tactical self-defense — taught through a Constraints-Led, task-based methodology that accelerates learning and reduces injury relative to traditional drilling.
The Pedagogy
Skill grows when the drill is removed.
Most academies teach technique in isolation, then hope athletes string them together under pressure. Redfoot teaches the other way around: a problem first, a solution search second, a refined movement pattern third. The scenario is the curriculum; the technique is what falls out of solving it.
The result: faster skill acquisition, far better retention under stress, and lower injury rates than traditional repetition-driven models. The athlete who trains this way solves problems they've never seen — because the patterns are encoded in the brain, not on a clipboard.
A problem is given, not a technique. "Escape side control when your opponent has cross-face" beats "drill the elbow-knee escape" every time — because the brain encodes solutions, not choreography.
Live positional rounds from the starting position you actually need to handle. Position-first sparring gives beginners tens of high-quality reps per minute and pros a calibration tool.
Coaches tune constraints week over week — adding grips, narrowing the escape window, swapping opponent sizes. The skill generalizes because the games keep changing, not the drills.
Programs
Six tiers, one academy.
From a five-year-old's first class to an active-duty developer's weeknight roll — every cohort trains in the same building, under the same methodology, with coaches who know each athlete by name.
Anti-bullying curriculum built around motor-skill acquisition and character formation. Game-light contact, heavy on problem-solving — kids leave class calmer, tougher, and more coordinated than they arrived.
The flagship program. Gi BJJ taught via live positional rounds — sweep, pass, submit — with structured curriculum from white through brown. Four nights a week, open mat on weekends.
No-Gi BJJ and submission wrestling with leg-lock awareness trained in. Faster pace, modern meta, and tournament-ready guard retention for competitors competing in IBJJF, ADCC, and sub-only formats.
Boxing, kickboxing, and full MMA integrated rounds. Striking ladder: stance → range → combination → counter. Cage scenarios staged for athletes who actually step into the pocket.
High-intensity programming designed for combat athletes: rotational power, grip endurance, lactic-acid tolerance, and grip-and-go intervals. Optional add-on for members — open to the public by punch-card.
Scenario-based grappling and defensive tactics with flexible scheduling built around shift work and rotational deployments. Adjacent to Malmstrom AFB; active-duty and veteran scheduling prioritized.

Built For
Central Montana has been waiting for this.
Helena is an hour and a half away. Billings, longer. For active-duty families at Malmstrom, working professionals on swing shifts, and veterans who'd rather not drive to a higher-tier academy — Redfoot is the gym they kept leaving town to find.
Malmstrom AFB is ten minutes from the door. Schedule flexes around rotational deployments and shift work. Combat-focused conditioning tier tracks off-season readiness.
Scenario-based grappling, situational awareness under stress, and a peer cohort that gets it. No ego, no auditioning — just consistent training on a schedule that respects the badge.
Children train alongside parents in adjacent rooms — Little Champions at 4pm, adult fundamentals at 5pm. Anti-bullying curriculum, motor-skill development, and the confidence that travels home.
Lunch-hour conditioning and 6pm rolling slots for adults whose training window is the back half of the day. Premium coaching inside a community that holds you accountable.
